So far, this year’s “Winter Meeting” has been a real bummer for Indians fans. It looked like for a while the Tribe were looking to add ace starter Dan Haren from the Oakland A’s or possibly Dontrelle Willis from the Florida Marlins but those deals fell through. The only good part is we finally got rid of utility infielder Chris Gomez to the Pittsburgh Pirates but other than that, there hasn’t been much to write about on this blog.
Happy Holidays to all my fellow Indians fans out there !!

The party was just beginning for Indians fans as the fersome Tribe has cliched the AL Central title for the first time since 2001. Along with the Los Angeles Angels who clinched the AL West, Cleveland is one of three teams assured a spot in the post season.
No one’s questioning the Indians power at the plate or pitchingany longer.
CC Sabathia, who is a favorite to win the favorites to win the Cy Young Award this season was a rookie the last time Cleveland made it into postseason. He went 17-5 back then on a veteran-heavy squad that came up short in its quest to become the first Cleveland team to win a World Series since 1948. Now a No. 1 starter and an ace for the Tribe.
Way to go team !!!

This year has been amazing for Indians fans. We’ve been riding the top of our division and now closing in on the playoffs we’re in a three way race with the Boston Redsox and the California Angels for the title of best team in baseball. We’re 8-2 in our last 10 games and we have three starting pitchers with more than 15 wins each. C.C. Sabathia and Fausto Carmona are winning game after game and the Tribe seems to be strengthening as every game passes. The magic number is now “3″. Only three games to clinching a post season birth.
I saw this image and I thought it was the appropriate to post !!!

C.C. Sabathia (18-7) upgraded his Cy Young Award resume and the Indians, a fourth-place finisher in 2006, dropped their magic number to three for clinching their first title since 2001.

Cleveland’s Jake Westbrook and Detroit’s Nate Robertson kept the game scoreless through eight innings in a battle of bullpens untl pinch-hitter Kenny Lofton’s infield single off Joel Zumaya broke a scoreless tie with two outs in the 10th inning, and the Indians went on to beat Detroit 3-1 Thursday.
Down 3-0 in the 10th, the Tigers still had a chance to win a series for the first time since mid-July. Marcus Thames hit an RBI double with two outs off Joe Borowski, putting a pair of runners in scoring position, but Ivan Rodriguez popped up to end the game.
The tribe won the three-game series and lead the Tigers in the division by 2 1/2 games, the biggest cushion since it was ahead by three games on July 3.

Tampa Bay 4, Cleveland 3 (12 innings)

What a waste… Indian’s starting pitcher C.C. Sabathia had the tribe poised for another win and a chance to extend the divison lead over the Detroit Tigers until the Devil Ray’s Joel Guzman hit a game winning RBI single in his first appearance at the plate with Tampa Bay. The lowly Devil Rays ended up beating the Indians 4-3 in 12 innings.
How many way can the Indians find to lose a game they had in the bag? Too many…
Indian fans might as well prepare to see the impressive pitching duo in C.C. Sabathia and Fausto Carmona wearing the uniforms of other teams (ie: Yankees or Red Sox) in the not to distant future.

Cleveland 5, Detroit 2

The Indians are now tied with the Detroit Tigers for first place in the AL Central after another impressive pitching exhibition by Fausto Carmona. Fausto struck out a career high 10 batters which gave him his 14th win and helped the Indians to split the two game series with the Tigers. Fausto ended his three game losing streak, allowed one earned run and four hits in the eight inning decision. Franklin Gutierrez hit a two-run homer for Cleveland, which snapped a four-game losing streak that included last weekends three game sweep by the New York Yankees. When they lost Tuesday night to the Tigers, things were looking pretty bad but after last nights victory they’re right where they need to be.
The Indians have the day off today (Thursday) and then it’s off to Tampa Bay for a three game series against the Devil Rays (46-74) who have been struggling to put anything together so it looks good for the tribe. Then it’s off to Detriot for another three game series against the Tigers. With any luck the Indians will sweep the Rays and the Tigers will get swept in their four game series with the Yankees.

Hi everyone. My name is Mark and I was born and raised in Cleveland but now I live in Seattle. I have always been a big Indians, Browns and Cavs fan and I will stay with them to the end. My favorite of the three teams is The Indians (because baseball is my favorite sport) and I remember back in the day when they were really sorry but I still enjoyed going to the home games. The Indians have broken my heart more times than I care to remember but they are still my team. Now I only get to see them a few times a year when they are in Seattle or when I go home to visit my parents in Elyria but I watch every game on my Comcast Cable MLB Extra Innings package (it’s worth the money).
One day I hope to be able to say. We Are The Champions !!!!
